TN
That U.S. opportunity is worth a conversation. Explore professional work through the TN pathway.
US immigration questions from Centre Wellington families can turn on a specific document: a diploma transcript, a shareholder register, or a bank statement showing when money actually left an account. Hypothetical example: a mechanical engineering technologist at a livestock-feed equipment manufacturer receives a US field offer while her spouse, a dental hygienist, assumes he will find clinic work the same month. Before either resigns, the household needs to know which page in their files answers the question each route asks, and whether that page says what they think it says.

TN, L-1A, L-1B, E-2, EB-5 and Gold Card each turn on different evidence, and the law is identical whether the applicant lives in Fergus, Elora or anywhere else in Centre Wellington. Comparing them means comparing what each route will ask you to prove: a listed profession and its credential, a year of qualifying employment abroad, capital that is genuinely at risk, ten full-time jobs, or a completed gift under the official Gold Card framework. Start from the records you can actually produce, not from the outcome you prefer.
Choose what brings you here. Leave with a short list of things to discuss—not another long form to fill out.
Bring the transcript or licence, the Appendix 2 entry and the offer letter side by side.

Assemble the deciding records early: the transcript that names the credential, the corporate chart with ownership percentages, the purchase agreement with its closing conditions, the statements that trace funds from source to escrow. Note where a document is missing or says something different from what everyone assumed. A gap found in Centre Wellington in month one costs far less than the same gap discovered at a port of entry or in a request for evidence. Keep the originals together and make a dated index so nothing has to be reconstructed later.

A practical plan.
No promises we can’t keep.
Write down, for each route that seems plausible, the single fact that route cannot proceed without, and who holds the record of it.
Locate the actual transcript, share register, statement or contract, and read what it says rather than what it was expected to say.
Eliminate any option whose deciding record cannot be produced, before spending time or money on the others.
Obtain the corrected letter, translation or agreement, and only then set dates for resignations, moves and payments.
Once the deciding document is identified, the next step usually becomes obvious: request a corrected offer letter, obtain a certified transcript, ask the seller for the shareholder register, or open the escrow. Those are concrete, dated actions that a household can complete on its own schedule. They also expose when a preferred route is unavailable, which is better learned before a lease is signed or a school year is interrupted. The household then commits to one sequence with dates attached to each step.
Find your pathwayShneur Herman, Jo Kubti and Alexander Paton review Centre Wellington cases remotely; there is no local office and no walk-in appointment. A first consultation is used to sort the household's documents into three piles: what already proves eligibility, what must be obtained, and what points to a different route. Corporate, tax and licensing questions are flagged for the appropriate professional rather than absorbed into the immigration file, and the household leaves with a short list of records to obtain.

The credential named in the Appendix 2 entry for the profession is central. Read that entry before the offer is signed, confirm that the transcript or licence matches its profession-specific qualification rule, and ask the employer to name the profession in its letter.
Not necessarily. A spouse needs work-authorized status: L-2 and E-2 spouses are employment-authorized incident to status, while a TD spouse may study but not work and needs an independent work-authorized route to work.
Not yet. E-2 requires funds irrevocably committed and at risk, so money that has not left your control does not count. Escrow arrangements conditioned on visa issuance are the usual bridge between a Canadian account and a committed investment.
No. Under the official framework the Gold Card involves a gift to the U.S. government plus a processing fee; it is not an at-risk investment and not a conventional visa category. Re-verify the current terms before any money moves.
