L dependent child status does not grant employment permission. A child who would perform paid documentation work needs a separate lawful basis permitting that activity. The parent’s knowledge and approval do not extend work authorization to another household member.
Keep the project staffing accurate
Do not include the child as an available worker in the transfer plan unless lawful authorization for that work is established. School attendance and employment are different questions. Review the child’s age and intended activities separately, and avoid treating a small payment or family connection as an exemption.
Handle household documents in parallel with, but separately from, the specialized-knowledge proof. The first review should make a personal record list for every family member, including relationship evidence, passport, anticipated activity and timing. The principal’s corporate records resolve the transfer; civil records resolve family connection; neither substitutes for the other. Avoid promising employment or school participation based on the company’s desired relocation schedule. Hypothetical example: A waterproofing-membrane formulator is assigned to a US affiliate for eighteen months, while her partner plans to take contract work and a seventeen-year-old hopes to attend school. The specialized formula evidence does not determine their permissions. They should settle relationship documentation and activity plans before the family commits to a move.
Use a written checkpoint for family documentation, travel order and practical activity plans. Name the original record, the person responsible for obtaining it, and the date by which any contradiction must be resolved. This lets the applicant make a practical decision from verified facts instead of relying on a convenient assumption. If the answer changes the structure or schedule, revise the plan before the next immigration step.
